5 Tips on how to save your wedding AND your sanity

March 21, 2015

Good Evening Ladies and Gents,
As we all know, weddings can be VERY stressful; whether it be the day of or the year before. So today i'm going to share with you 5 tips I found on CNN about how to save your wedding and your sanity. Here we go.

Step 1: Give in to the Chaos!
The chocolate fountain may malfunction, the sound system could break, it might hail bricks; but you're still going to be just as married as you would have been if everything had gone smoothly. I'm not saying it's not good to put in hours of planning; but realize that your wedding is less about perfection and more about celebration.

Step 2: Remember that they are all rooting for you
Say something does go amiss: you trip and fall into your cake, the doves escape, or you fumble your beloveds name a la Princess Diana. If people laugh, it's because it's all part of the amazing story that's unfolding, not because they're happy about you messing up. They're there because they're on your side and are grateful to be part of this momentous occasion, and if they're not, why the heck are they at your wedding? Take a look at that guest list and snip, snip, snip.

Step 3: Let your loved ones help; but on your terms
This one really speaks for itself. If your like me, stress is followed by anxiety. Just because others are helping you doesn't mean it is not going to go YOU'RE way. Another good thing about this is that our loved ones feel like they had a stake in our wedding, and in our marriage, and that feeling continues on.

Step 4: Stay Awake and Pay Attention
Ask just about any married person if they can remember every detail of their wedding and reception and chances are that it's jumbled with big, blurry chunks. It's a joyous, often overwhelming day,and it's only going to happen once, hopefully. Author Sheryl Paul makes a wonderful suggestion. Stop and take mental snapshots of what's going on around you, and how you feel in that moment, so you can be extremely present on your wedding.

Step 5: There's a letdown; and that's OK
Ladies, although you just married your favorite man on Earth and are happier than you've ever been, you are no longer a single woman, girlfriend or bride-to-be. You're someones wife! Which is a wonderful, but slightly scary new role. So say goodbye to the single self you've always known, take a deep breath, and step into this new role.

All right, I know that was a lot but i really hope it helps. Have a great rest of the day!
